Why I LOVE Selling Consumables on Amazon

Sharing is caring!

What products does your family buy over and over on Amazon?

And with Alexa gleefully taking our orders via voice, and that happy orange “Buy now with 1-click” button making it even easier for us to buy with little thought, it’s simpler than ever for Amazon customers to just reorder a product we use up with a click, swipe or voice command.

I’m just thinking outloud here, but I’ll be Mr. Bezos will soon have us ordering with a blink or a touch of our thumbprint. 🙂

In fact, you can even set up auto-ordering where every week or month, a product shows up automatically at your door from Amazon.

Webclass on this topic:

Here are a few things that I use-up regularly:

  • pet food
  • cat litter
  • laundry and dish detergent
  • hand cream/body butter
  • shampoo/conditioner
  • hair color (don’t ask)
  • truffle oil
  • truffle salt
  • truffle ANYTHING, really
  • cleaning supplies
  • specific type of notebook I use for journaling
  • and alot more I cant think of right now, because Amazon just sends it to me 🙂

What things do you buy over and over on Amazon?

Think air filters for vacuum cleaners and vents

Think baby, maternity, kids, elderly

How about things for specific professions

  • like Amazon sellers and polybags, dymo and shipping labels etc.
  • plumbers
  • electricians
  • handymen
  • house and office cleaners
  • office buildings
  • accountants
  • prep centers
  • restaurants
  • put your thinking cap on and brainstorm professions!

NOW… put your SELLER hat on.

What if you were to focus on getting wholesale accounts for these types of consumable (replenishable) products?

Instead of relying on getting NEW customers each month, you’ll have a certain amount of repeat business!

A quick google search for “consumables” gave me some ideas for less-obvious categories to explore including:

retail, hospitality, restaurant, warehouse

  • office supplies
  • 3D printer supplpies
  • metallographic supplies (look it up)
  • scientific laboratory
  • religious items
  • machine parts
  • hospital/medical supplies
  • think professions: dentists, optometrists etc
  • what else can you find?

Did you know there are entire CONFERENCES and TRADESHOWS around consumables?

What a great way to find new suppliers, right?

Here are a few I ran across…

Cosmoprof – cosmetics – 1,400 vendors

https://tradefest.io/en/event/cosmoprof-north-america

ITMA – Textile industry in Milan, Italy (hey, its a business expense!) – 1,691 vendors

https://tradefest.io/en/event/itma

Vision Expo East- opthomology – 700 vendors

https://tradefest.io/en/event/itma

International Fooring Expo – 500 vendors

Get creative… ask family, friends, neighbors, colleagues what they either run out of on a regular basis, and order or buy over and over again.

Then get searching Amazon for product opportunities!

Happy sourcing!
